How are berths allocated in our ports?

Answers to your questions

Following our satisfaction survey sent out at the end of the season, many of you have asked us these questions.

What are the rules for allocating berths?

Berths are allocated in accordance with article 3 of the internal regulations, according to the number of berths available and the order of registration on the pre-reservation list. Port agents then check the technical characteristics of the boats (size, weight, draught, air draught, etc.) and any special requests (disabilities, etc.) before allocating a berth. If required by operational needs, this location can be changed at any time.

The port service cannot therefore systematically keep the previous year's berths, despite the requests of certain users to benefit from this service.

Why are there no special resident rates?

Some users living near the lake have asked for a special resident rate. SMADESEP's Board of Directors cannot adopt a preferential resident tariff, as this is illegal under the principle of equality of users before the public service.

A seasonal tariff has therefore been created to offer attractive rates for boaters present from June to September (mainly residents) and occasional boaters present for shorter periods, who pay a weekly, fortnightly or monthly rate depending on the dates of arrival and departure.

How long does it take to process contracts?

It is difficult to give a precise date for processing port pre-booking requests. However, we can describe the process followed by our agents.

Pre-bookings open on January 1 of each year. The port service agents begin by placing the boats port by port, taking into account the characteristics of the boats and any requests from users. Contracts are then sent out port by port. This work is carried out from January to March, and then as soon as a new pre-booking is made.

The agent in charge of the harbor office then validates the contract, the supporting documents and the payment, before returning the signed contract to the yachtsman.

To shorten processing times, we invite you to send us all the supporting documents for the contract by e-mail, and to pay for your berths online by credit card at https://www.smadesep.com/paiement (quoting your invoice number and amount).
