Algerian delegation visits Wilaya de Tizi Ouzou as part of cooperation program

Institutional meeting

After a visit in October 2011 where the delegation, comprising Victor BERENGUEL, Marc ZANETTO, Christine MAXIMIN and the Director, were able to gain an insight into regional issues and challenges, SMADESEP welcomed Algerian representatives for a study trip from July 3 to 5.

The latter took place within the framework of a project led by the Syndicat Mixte d'Aménagement et de Développement de Serre-Ponçon (S.M.A.D.E.S.E.P.) and the Touiza Solidarité association, co-financed by the Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region.

This is a decentralized cooperation program set up between the S.M.A.D.E.S.E.P. and the Assemblée Populaire de la Wilaya de Tizi-Ouzou in Algeria.

This time, the Algerian delegation also included members of two other Wilayates with dams of similar stature to Taksebt: Mila and Tipaza. The trip took place around the Serre-Ponçon dam and lake, particularly in the communes of Savines-le-Lac, Embrun, Rousset and Crots.

The aim of the mission was for the Algerian delegation to learn more about the prerogatives of the S.M.A.D.E.S.E.P. and the actions generated by the dam in terms of sustainable local development and the mobilization of synergies between players.

On the agenda for the visit: meetings with local professionals from the lake and surrounding area, covering topics such as sanitation, water quality and tourism, as well as economic potential, agriculture and forestry.

SMADESEP and its elected representatives, chaired by Victor BERENGUEL, are very committed to this cooperation, which is proof that the work carried out here is a model. As a member of the European network of Alpine lakes, SMADESEP offers all the know-how of its employees for a qualitative development that ultimately allows a permanent evolution of the management tools of the reservoir, as much for the structure as for the professionals and institutions that compose it.
