In 10 years, the use of cheques has fallen by more than 75%. They now account for just 4.5% of payments, but 30% of processing costs. Cheques can be lost. They can also be used to commit fraud, exposing users to the risk of scams.
It is for these reasons that the Direction Générale des Finances Publiques (DGFiP) has decided to close all check cashing centers by the 1st half of 2027. In other words, it will no longer be possible for the Régie portuaire to deposit your payments by cheque for your port sites in 2027.
