Presentation of plaques celebrating 50 years of Serre-Ponçon

Institutional meeting

The solemn presentation of the commemorative plaques marking 50 years of Serre-Ponçon to the associations of former residents was a moment of gratitude and recognition. Victor BERENGUEL, in a heartfelt speech delivered on July 25, 2010, expressed deep gratitude for the sacrifices made by residents and their families, emphasizing that Serre-Ponçon's very existence was the fruit of such dedication.

This significant ceremony took place during the presentation of the commemorative plaque to members of the "Ubaye d'hier et d'aujourd'hui" association. An aperitif generously donated by the S.M.A.D.E.S.E.P. accompanied the event, which brought together many participants, including Mr. Bassaget, Sous-Préfet of the Barcelonnette district, representatives of E.D.F., as well as local elected officials and friends. The celebration marked the 39th edition of the Sainte Madeleine festival, bringing together Ubaye's elders and their descendants.

On August 22, 2010, in the presence of Madame SAUMONT, Madame CLAUZIER and Monsieur PAPOLLA, Monsieur BERENGUEL renewed this symbolic gesture by presenting two identical plaques to the association of Rousset island elders. This hamlet, engulfed by the waters between Le Sauze du Lac and Rousset, was thus honored by the affixing of two plaques, bearing witness to the memory of this emblematic place and its history shared by the two communes directly concerned.

This initiative, jointly supported by the S.M.A.D.E.S.E.P. and the presidents of the two associations, Mr. GLEIZE and Ms. FOREL, has received the unanimous backing of the public authorities as well as E.D.F., the concession holder for the reservoir. It represents a powerful act of preservation of the collective memory and recognition of those who have contributed to the history and present-day reality of Serre-Ponçon.
