The reservoir of Serre-Ponçon is the meeting place for various practices for which their existence relies on the water resources; farmers, energy companies, hydraulic engineers, tourism providers (...), many depend along the Durance of the water availability offered by the large alpine dam ... Whether it is for sustainable energy production, local touristic economy, environment in the full context of global warming, the fight against floods, Serre-Ponçon is at the heart of global problems that deserve approaches wider then only the high alpine territory.
The S.M.A.D.E.S.E.P participates since several years at different networks that rely on local strategies, parameters or know-how passing far beyond its scope of intervention.
The Mixed Union is thus a member of the Regional Network of Managers of the Aquatic Environments (RRGMA) of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Holder of a watershed contract approach on Haut-Durance / Serre-Ponçon, it joins the works carried by the EPTB Durance (Etablissement Public Territorial Basin) carried by the SMAVD (Syndicat Mixte de la Vallée de la Durance).
It also collaborates on the SILMAS program (Sustainable Instruments for Lakes Management in the Alpine Space) that combines, within a European project launched since 2009, 18 alpine lakes in Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Slovenia.
It finally commits a partnership with Algeria, especially on the areas of Mila and Tizi-Ouzou, for the implementation of transferable actions to improve the tourism exploitation and the environmental protection of the great dam lakes. This action of decentralized cooperation has already allowed, thanks to the support of the PACA region and with the technical assistance of the association Touiza Solidarité, to develop many exchanges leading today to the wish to include in the duration of this institutional rapprochement.
